This is the only way I do my hard boiled eggs. Any other way has lead me to 12 eggs that wont peel, and through much frustrated growling (anyone that knows me knows what I mean by that!), I end up throwing the mangled mess in the garbage or try to force the dogs to love them.
The easiest and most reliable method is the 5-5-5 method:
Pour 1 cup of water into the Instant Pot (1½ cups for an 8-quart model).
Place the metal trivet or a steamer basket inside.
Arrange up to a dozen eggs on the trivet.
Close the lid and set the valve to Sealing.
Pressure cook on High Pressure for 5 minutes.
Let the pressure naturally release for 5 minutes.
Carefully move the valve to Venting to release any remaining pressure.
Immediately transfer the eggs to an ice bath for 5 minutes.
The eggs will be fully hard-boiled with bright yellow yolks and are usually very easy to peel.
A few tips:
Eggs can go into the pot straight from the refrigerator.
Older eggs tend to peel a bit more easily than very fresh ones.
Store unpeeled hard-boiled eggs in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
If you like your yolks a little softer, try 4-4-4. If you prefer them very firm, 6-6-6 works well.
